It looks like the Azuay Community Theater’s production of A Christmas Carol, is unfortunately “sold out” but if you show up at the theater on Friday, Saturday or Sunday afternoon, it’s possible someone one might have an extra ticket you’ll be able to scalp.
I had an opportunity to see the show’s dress rehearsal on Wednesday afternoon and was blown away by the professionalism of the production.
The show’s co-directors, Saralee Squires and Cody Hamilton, have assembled an all-star cast that brought to life Ebenezer Scrooge, Jacob Marley, the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future, Old Fezziweg, Bob Cratchit and Tiny Tim as if you were listening to a 1940s radio play.
While almost all of the cast performed the roles of at least three characters, ACT’s fan favorite, Bob Fry knocked it out of the theater as the crotchety, Ebenezer Scrooge and Wes Elliott was the quintessential milquetoast, Bob Cratchit.
Normally, in most theatrical productions the work of a show’s sound effect crew goes almost unnoticed, but the four individuals on this production’s sound effect crew made this radio play all the more enjoyable.
