About Steel Magnolias:

“Laughter through tears is the best emotion.”

Steel Magnolias is a funny, heartfelt play set in a Louisiana beauty salon where a close-knit group of women share gossip, grief, joy, and resilience. Their humor and grit carry them through love, loss, and life-changing challenges.

The beloved film version gives actors both obstacles and opportunities: audiences will recognize these characters, but there’s plenty of room to make each role your own.

Clarification on our Memories Event; Mon., Dec 1st
Blue and White Natural Elegant Church Flyer

This event will start at 2 PM. You are welcome to stay for the first hour and leave whenever you wish. Most of this event will be just in the first hour.

November 26th marks the 32nd anniversary of Severo’s passing. He is the reason I am here in Cuenca today, and the reason Hogar de Esperanza exists. We often think of death as something purely sad, yet it is also a necessary part of life. Just as a flower dies and gives way to new growth, so too can loss give rise to something beautiful.

I will be sharing my personal journey—from death to new life, from devastation to inspiration and tell the story of how Severo’s life, and his courage, inspired me to bring hope to thousands of others. I know many of you carry similar stories of people who shaped your life in profound ways.

On December 1st, we will come together for a unique event to honor those memories. It will be a time to reflect, to share, and to celebrate the people who inspired us—those whose influence continues long after they are gone. You can share a memory or just listen to inspiring stories.

I hope you will join us for this event at the foundation here in Cuenca of beautiful memories. Reservations by using this link is required.

Paco’s Blues in Vilcabamba next weekend… come along with us!
GP Bus 1 Get Ready Actual

Paco’s Blues will be playing at El Carro Azul in Vilcabamba next Saturday.

Come with us on a fast and fun trip to Vilcabamba on a big tour bus (see the photo for details).

El Carro Azul and Vilcabamba are always a great time!

Send an email to PacosBluesBand@gmail.com to come with us.

Here is the itinerary for the trip.

December 5th

9:30 AM: Bus departs from Bandog Studios. Bandog is located at Gran Columbia y Las Americas in Cuenca.  Bandog is right next door to the Cruz Azul pharmacy on Gran Columbia and across Gran Columbia from Banco Pacifico.  It is a block away from both the #8 north Tranvia stop (on Las Americas heading to Tarqui) and also the #8 south Tranvia stop (on Gran Columbia heading to Parque Industrial).

9:45-ish AM: Bus arrives Parque San Sebastián

10 AM: Bus departs from Parque San Sebastián.

We will be getting off the bus at the central plaza in Vilcabamba.  If your hotel is away from the town center, there are Mixto taxis at the central plaza that can take you to your hotel.

December 6th

6:30 PM: Paco’s Blues will be playing at El Carro Azul in Vilcabamba.  El Carro Azul is a cool venue with a great vibe, good food, a nice dance area, and a great bar.  Although you don’t need to go to the show to ride on the bus, we would love to see you there!

December 7th

Noon: Bus departs from the central park in Vilcabamba at noon and returns to Parque San Sebastián and then Bandog in Cuenca.

$35 per person (round trip) and we will collect the fare when you board the bus.
