Come and discover hidden gems, unusual places, beautiful surroundings, and the people who make Challuabamba so special.

We will begin at the Museo de la Gastronomía, which is much more than a traditional museum dedicated to food. The site includes a huge house-museum filled with objects and treasures from Ecuador, a café-restaurant, a large garage packed with antiques, beautiful gardens and natural surroundings, and even some animals!

Next, we will visit María’s shop, where she makes a delicious selection of natural products herself, including kefir, kimchi, sauerkraut, kombucha, and apple cider vinegar. She also offers a wide variety of natural...

Siluetas Urbana is a guided afternoon of drawing outdoors, exploring three different locations in Cuenca as the light changes from afternoon to golden hour.

He’ll bring materials to experiment with, including pencil, sepia and sanguine, watercolor, acrylic, and oil monotype — a technique that involves painting on glass and transferring the image onto cardboard to create a unique print. Join us to hear an encouraging message of diversity within the family of God. Trinity Church is committed to being a community of healing. We join God in the work of reconciliation. We also seek to be a diverse community of hope that realizes the power of the cross to reconcile what has been separated by sin.

This requires that we move beyond our personal preferences and engage those whom we perceive to be unlike us. We must actively work to break down barriers of color, culture, social class, language, and ethnicity.

We are convinced that the church is meant...

Survival Spanish: Let’s get talking

You know how to introduce yourself. You’ve picked up some basic words and phrases. Maybe you can put together a simple sentence or two. But when you want to say much more than that… things get tricky.

Let’s Get Talking gives you more words and expressions to work with—and more opportunities to start putting them together in everyday conversations.

You’ll learn how to talk about the things you like and don’t like, what you enjoy doing, and even what the weather is like. You’ll also pick up useful language for shopping for clothes and talking...

Spanish in Action · connecting the dots

You may know more Spanish than you think. The challenge is making all those pieces come together.

Spanish in Action helps you connect what you already know and understand how the pieces fit together. Our upcoming class gives you the opportunity to strengthen what you know, fill in gaps, and start making those connections.

Through grammar, conversation, guided practice, and real-life situations, you’ll work with everyday topics including past experiences, future plans, travel, food, work, housing, health, shopping, and leisure while developing your speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.

What can a piece of clay tell us about Ecuador?

Much more than we might imagine.

Our next Cultura Viva Spanish course, Raíces de Barro, invites Intermediate+ Spanish learners to discover Ecuador through one of its oldest and most enduring forms of expression: ceramics.

We’ll travel through Ecuadorian history and culture by looking at ceramics created by different cultures and regions of the country—from Valdivia, Chorrera, Jama-Coaque and La Tolita to traditions that continue today.

We’ll look at the forms, symbols, techniques and uses of these pieces, and what they reveal about everyday life, beliefs, identity and cultural heritage. We’ll...

Love, heartbreak, war, compassion, and hope — timeless human experiences carried across more than a century of music.

Amor y Guerra is a classical art song recital featuring Ecuadorian tenor, Francisco Ortega and Ukrainian pianist, Ekaterina Poukhiria Komova.

The performance begins with Schumann’s Dichterliebe, a deeply personal exploration of love, longing, heartbreak, and resignation. The program then turns to Kurt Weill and Walt Whitman, confronting war and its human consequences. Together, these works move from the intimate to the universal — and ultimately toward compassion and hope.

Amor y Guerra comes to idiomARTE’s new house for two intimate performances, with...

What would your perfect charcuterie board look like if you could make it yourself?

In this hands-on ceramics workshop with Candy Sugarman at idiomARTE, you’ll create your own charcuterie plate and accessories — choosing the shapes, details, and personality of your pieces.

Make something playful. Something elegant. Something completely unexpected. There are no rules about what your set has to look like — just your imagination and a little clay.
And when you’re finished, you’ll have something made by you, for you… or a very special handmade gift for someone else.
