My back aches every day, and i’ve quietly stopped doing things

It doesn’t stop me completely. That’s the strange part of this kind of pain. I still get through my day, I just do it a little more carefully each time.

I think twice before bending down to pick something up. I leave the heavy bags for someone else. I say “maybe tomorrow” to chores that used to be automatic, and I ask for help more often than I’d like to admit. Nothing dramatic. Just a slow shrinking of what I’m willing to try.

The worst part is how normal it starts to feel. A back that flares up when I bend or lift becomes “just how things are now.” So I adapt around it. I rest, I take something, I wait. But I’m never treating the source, only managing the edges.

Here’s what I’m learning: a persistent ache isn’t something I have to accept as part of getting older. Often the back isn’t damaged beyond repair. It has simply been protecting itself for too long, and that protection leaves everything stiffer and more guarded. With the right guidance, gentle strengthening, and a clear understanding of what’s going on, movement can feel safe again. Bending, lifting, reaching, walking: it can all come back, little by little.

That’s a pattern worth breaking, before it quietly takes more of your routine.

If this sounds familiar, you don’t have to keep working around it. I offer physiotherapy at home for pain that won’t go away, injuries that never fully healed, recovery after surgery, and healthy aging, always at a calm pace and built around you.

Message me and tell me what’s going on.
