Welcome to The Cuenca Drawing Club
Have you ever been asked to draw a bird… and had absolutely no idea where to begin?
That was me.
Like many people, I believed that drawing was a talent you were either born with—or you weren’t. Then I discovered something wonderful.
Drawing is a skill.
With patient guidance, encouragement, and practice, anyone can learn.
That is the inspiration behind The Cuenca Drawing Club.
This isn’t simply another art class. It’s a community of people who enjoy learning together, encouraging one another, sharing a few laughs, and watching their confidence grow from week to week.
We’ll begin in a beautiful, sunlit room at Hotel Santiago de Compostella, directly across from Supermaxi Las Américas.
Our goal is to build something lasting. Each lesson will build on the previous one, giving beginners a solid foundation instead of a collection of disconnected workshops.
As the club grows, we’ll also take our sketchbooks outdoors. Imagine spending an afternoon beside the Yanuncay River sketching birds, flowers, neighborhood streets, cafés, architecture, parks, and perhaps a few friendly dogs enjoying the sunshine.
Whether you’ve never drawn before or haven’t picked up a pencil in years, you’ll be warmly welcomed.
I’m currently working toward bringing in an instructor with a wonderful gift for teaching complete beginners but we also have a dedicated, professional instructor now.
Our first gathering:
Friday, July 17
2½ hours
Hotel Santiago de Compostella
$35
We’ll also be introducing membership packages because this club is about growing together over time—not simply attending a one-off class.
My dream is dream is simple.
