Does Ecuador have a reliable and functioning postal system?

I have been asked why I use Traveling-mailbox for all physical mail deliveries which for me is a drop box in North Carolina instead of my domicile address here in Cuenca.

I told him that at present I did not think we had a reliable and functioning mail system here.

Am I wrong?

As much as I support all the people that works for the US postal service, we need to adapt to new technology. 0 0

agree, most "mail" these days is packages, other than tax time stuff and that is mostly digital, 0 0

So damn funny the things we take for granted as Americans living in a foreign land. The Ecuadorian post office is not functional or trustworthy. I've had packages that companies have sent to me where they and I didn't know about the post office and it took MONTHS to figure... Read more 0 0

Not at all. There are functioning courier services like Servientrega, but they are in-country. I have to say I have not really missed getting mail, it was mostly junk mail. It would be nice to have a mail service, but before that it would probably be best to first implement... Read more 0 0

We don’t. The “new” system will probably only handle Packages. The country doesn’t have the funds for a post office. Better to use that money for IESS 0 0

Any country without an efficient postal system is ghetto. Ecuador has no mail system whatsoever. 0 0

No your not wrong. It was barly functioning and not reliable and the government shut it down a few years ago. They privatized it and there is what they are calling a postal system but you can only drop off and pick up mail in Quito or Guayaquil. It is... Read more 0 0

Anyone who uses a physical mail system is ghetto, and the USPS is horrible. I have lived here for years and function well without it either place. Grow up and join us in the year 2023! 0 0

When I lived in Ecuador in 1976, it had an excellent postal system. I used to write letters to my girlfriend in Sweden and she always received them within a week after I dropped them in the mailbox. Likewise, she sent letters to me and I received them at the... 0 0

Are you saying that the Republicans didn't try to defund the postal service under the trump administration? You need to do some easy research. 0 0

Please don't take the as 'poking the bear' but do you have a resource that backs up your statement "Ecuador is the second most corrupt country in South America"? This is a serious question to you. I'm wondering if this your subjective opinion or if this statement is backed up... 0 0

I can’t cite any research. However, several of my Ecuadorian friends, all professionals in their 60’s & 70’s, who have lived in Cuenca their entire lives, all of whom are either doctors, lawyers or engineers, tell me that only Chile is more corrupt than Ecuador. A regular review of the... 0 0
