Are you a tourist, a temporary resident, or a permanent resident?
Lately, some travelers have had problems because immigration officers at international airports “forgot” to stamp their passport on exit. When my friends tried to re-enter Ecuador, they were denied entry because there was no exit stamp in the passport and no record of their departure date in the system.
Long story short: whenever you leave Ecuador, whether by air or by land, make sure the immigration officer scans your passport, stamps it, and enters it into the system.
