Please know that it is perfectly legal for taxi drivers to charge a little more at night.
The base fare, no matter how short a ride, is $1.70 between the hours of 7 PM and 6 AM. And the base fare from 6 AM to 7 PM is $1.50.
If they give you a very nice ride, feel free to give them a tip showing appreciation.
If you don’t speak Spanish – yet – then please have the address written down to give them.
