Many people ask me what “Chicapán” means.
Chicapán is inspired by a legendary Andean beaver associated with Lake San Pablo in Imbabura, Ecuador. The character became a symbol of creativity, culture, and connection to our roots. There is even a dock on Lake San Pablo that bears the name Chicapán, keeping this story alive within the local community.
For me, Chicapán is also a family legacy.
The original Chicapán logo was created by my father, Luis Enrique Vallejos (“Quique”), a respected Ecuadorian cartoonist, journalist, teacher, writer, artist, and cultural promoter. For more than three decades, he shared his work through newspapers, education, and cultural projects, inspiring generations through art, humor, and creativity. He was also recognized for his contributions to culture, education, and graphic journalism in Ecuador.
Today, I continue that artistic journey through Chicapán.
Every design is inspired by Ecuadorian legends, Andean traditions, nature, and the stories that make our culture unique.
This is more than a clothing brand.
It is a tribute to our roots, our culture, and the people who inspired us to create.
