Inti Raymi in Chobshi: Registration now open for free transportation from Cuenca

One of the questions we explore through Casa Aguacolla is what it means to develop a deeper relationship with the places we call home.

Perhaps that’s one reason Inti Raymi has captured our attention.

On Saturday, June 20, the community of Chobshi in Sígsig will celebrate Inti Raymi, one of the most important dates in the Andean calendar. Centered around the June solstice, the celebration brings together ceremony, music, dance, artisan traditions, food, cultural expression, and community participation.

This year’s event will include construction of the Chakana (Andean Cross), solstice ceremonies, traditional music and dance, artisan and gastronomic fairs, cultural activities, and opportunities to learn more about the archaeological and cultural significance of Chobshi.

The Municipality of Sígsig has now confirmed free round-trip transportation from Cuenca, though seating is limited and advance registration is required.

While the event itself is being organized by the Municipality of Sígsig and local community partners, Casa Aguacolla will be sharing additional cultural context, practical information, and participant resources for those interested in exploring the traditions and significance of Inti Raymi more deeply.

If you would like information about transportation, registration, or participation, feel free to send a message and we’ll be happy to share the details.

Please note that each participant requiring transportation—including partners, family members, and children—must complete an individual registration.

We hope many of you will join us for a meaningful day of culture, community, and connection.
