You are just steps away from high-end shops and Mercados, Nectar and El Totke organic markets, the most popular restaurants, trendy coffee shops, the main tour office and city tour bus, museums, galleries, churches — everything you will want on your visit to Cuenca.
This historic home, built by a well-known German architect in the late 1920’s, was fully restored in the summer of 2019 by a talented interior designer and artist.
This Patrimonial property has tons of charm with French doors and romantic balconies above the street, hand tooled plaster, 12 foot ceilings, beautiful solid hardwood floors and doors throughout, sweeping windows and/or French doors in every room, three very large living rooms, a study/TV viewing room, three guest bedrooms and two lovely brand-new baths, a custom gourmet kitchen, and a large interior courtyard.

You will enjoy your respite from the animated old town, cocooned on the first floor – it is like stepping into another world. The house is very large for Cuenca standards, over 3500 square feet, it is quiet and tranquil, but you are in the heart of the historical district, Cuenca’s most desirable neighborhood for visitors. Luxury and comfort will be your experience here.
Security is excellent. You must pass through three locked doors to enter, and the street door remains locked at all times.
Rent is far less than you would pay for a room in a comparable five-star fine hotel, and you will have a quiet, centrally located luxury accommodation, sumptuous rooms to relax in, comfortable imported memory foam beds, and a fully equipped American-standard kitchen. Everything is brand new and newly remodeled. We provide coffee, tea, sugar, salt and pepper (of course, your personal food, toiletries and sundries are your responsibility).
The guest rooms are all lovely Deluxe double rooms, with cushy queen-size memory-foam mattresses and 1000 thread-count sheets, abundant down-filed pillows and duvets, colorful original art, with two full private baths, plus two half baths.
The newly updated fiber-optic MESH WIFI system works throughout the house. Voice-activated “Alexa” is available to play the music of your choice, and Amazon Fire TV is included for your viewing pleasure with Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, all the regular channels, etc.
The kitchen includes disposal, deep bowl stainless sink, US double-sided refrigerator with filtered water and crushed ice in the door, water purifier/ozone-ator, gas cook-top and oven, microwave, coffeepot, toaster, instant hot water, stone counter tops throughout and fresh white imported shaker style hardwood cabinets. It includes all of the dishes, cutlery, wine glasses, and implements you would expect in a gourmet kitchen.
Off the kitchen there is a large covered courtyard that can be used for reading or relaxing, or taking the health treatments that can be offered here on request, or it can also be used for group events, classes or workshops by special arrangement.
Your rent includes gas, water, building fee, electricity and immaculate cleaning service before your stay, plus Wi-Fi internet and AMZN fire TV. Optional maid service can be provided weekly during your stay. For longer stays, twice per month is required. Breakfast or food delivery can be arranged in-house, and there are a multitude of restaurants right outside your door.
You can rent the entire house with three bedrooms for $95 per night, due to Covid pricing, minimum 7 nights. Normally this property rents for $75 per room, so this is a big discount. Additionally significant monthly pricing discounts are available, and long-term rentals are encouraged. Just ask us.
Cuenca’s “eternal springtime” climate is consistently pleasant, but we will provide a portable heater for your use if needed. There are luxurious faux-fur throws in the seating areas to snuggle under as well.
We keep “covid-safe” in the building at all times. Because there is only one other apartment in the building, the manager’s, exposure is extremely low compared to other buildings with multiple apartments and tenants.
• If your stay is an extended one and you need laundry service, there are options for very inexpensive pick-up and delivery for laundry and dry cleaning, or laundry services just blocks away.
• We can arrange any customizable experience that you require: health and wellness or beauty treatments in house, massage, house chef or catering, food delivery, custom tours, drivers and day trips, even event planning and coordination, transportation–just ask our property manager.
Check-in: Check-in is at 1 PM, and check-out is at noon. Upon check-in, you may be asked to fill out a short form to comply with Ecuadorian tax law.
Car Parking: Inexpensive secure parking (approximately $5 per day; $35 per month) is available at parking lots within one block of the property.
Airport: The property is approximately 8-10 minutes from the Cuenca airport by taxi ($2 – $2.50 cab fare), and the French tram stops on the corner of our street.

House Rules & Exclusions: We apologize, due to the luxury nature of this property and fine furnishings, our policy does not allow for small children or pets. The minimum rental age is 30. Rentals are for 1-6 persons, ideal for the discriminating client, or one or two couples. No additional overnight guests will be authorized during the rental period without express permission from the manager. This is strictly a non-smoking environment; smoking is permitted on the exterior balconies. A short staircase from the lobby to the main door means this home is not suitable for handicap access.
Cancellation Policy: Full payment in advance is required to secure your booking period. Booking direct will lower your rent and avoid costly VRBO fees. Full refund is available for cancellation 3 months in advance; 50% refund for cancellation within 30 days. A fully refundable security deposit also applies because of the antiques and collectible carpets.
