Holiday Hours for El Mundo Orgánico

First, we want to thank all of our customers and vendors for helping us exceed our goals for the year thus far. We really appreciate your business and friendship. During Easter weekend we will be closed Saturday, April 3rd and Sunday, April 4th and will reopen Monday, April 5th.

Also, we would like to remind you that we have new products at El Mundo Orgánico

El Mundo Orgánico is now featuring not only some new, fresh and delicious cheeses, similar to only those imported from outside of Ecuador—you know, “real cheese”—but also some wonderful, tasty crackers made from, of all things…wait for it…cauliflower and walnuts. You have to taste these crackers to believe them.

The cheeses, available in-store and for delivery with your next Build-Your-Own Basket order, are a Mexican cheese, “Queso de Oaxaca”, and an authentic “Mozzarella” cheese. The crackers must be ordered at least two days before your delivery.

The “Queso de Oaxaca” is a delicious, mild-flavored cheese made here in Cuenca by a Mexican gentleman who knows his cheeses. In this case, he has made this “Queso de Oaxaca” as a string cheese.

The “Mozzarella” cheese, made by the same gentleman, is authentic, made following an Italian recipe. This “Mozzarella” is suitable for shredding for your favorite Italian dish, whether that might be lasagna or pizza, or sliced for your chicken parmigiana and “Caprese Salad”.

These two cheeses can be purchased in (approximate) 250g, 500g and 1 kilo size packages. The prices are as follows: Queso de Oaxaca (1 kilo/2.2 lbs. = $13.50; .500g/1.1 lbs.= $7.50; and 250g/.55 lbs. = $5.50) and Mozzarella Cheese (1 kilo/2.2 lbs. = $11.00; .500g/1.1 lbs. = $6.25; and 250g/.55 lbs. = $4.50).

And don’t plan another meal featuring a lomo fino de res (beef tenderloin) without adding a sauce made from our freshly prepared horseradish (2 oz jar for $6.50)! Using our horseradish to make a creamy sauce to enhance the flavor of the beef would remind you of your fine beef meals back home.

Don’t have the beef for such a meal? No worries! We can add a tasty, tender (yes, I said “tender”) and juicy lomo fino to your order. The lomo fino (beef tenderloin, $8/lb, whole, 2 to 5 lbs), bife chorizo (small steak, approx. 1.1 lbs, $7.50/lb), and fresh, not corned, beef brisket ($4.50/lb, minimum order 2 lbs) come from grass-fed beef in the Amazon, bred for their tenderness, quality and low-fat content.

Oh, I almost forgot. To add a tasty side dish to your next meal, try our organic iceberg lettuce ($.75), cut into quarters and smothered in a creamy (real) Roquefort Bleu salad dressing (bottle, approx. 100ml, $4.00/ea) and topped with flavorful bacon bits (naturally cured with spices and smoked over applewood, ½ lb sliced bacon, $5.50, or Bacon Bits, 1 lb, $5.50)—a mouthwatering combination of flavors that can’t be beat! What doesn’t taste better with cheese or bacon?

To purchase items for a Build-Your-Own Basket for home delivery, our full “Product and Pricing List” and “Ordering Instructions” are available on the Home Page of our website ( In addition to many fresh, organic and natural fruits and veggies, we also offer a wide variety of very tasty vegan, vegetarian, lactose-free, sugar-free, gluten-free foods and biodegradable products.

Find our store location on Google Maps by searching for “El Mundo Orgánico” (not “Mundo Orgánico,” or you will end up in the wrong place).

Remember, if you have a special request for a fruit or vegetable (or, for that matter, any other edible product for yourself or your pets) that is not on our product list, please let us know, and we will do our best to find it for you.

Have a great day.
