Concert for International Musician’s Day

The Symphony Orchestra of Cuenca under the baton of maestro Michael Meissner, Principal Director, with the participation of the talented cornetist, Cristian Tacuri Álvarez, as Guest Soloist, presents the X Concert of the second season 2019, on Friday, November 22, event in tribute to the Musician on his International Day. We wait for you at the Pumapungo theater at 8 PM. Free entrance.

The repertoire: Overture of El Barbero de Sevilla by Gioacchino Rossini, Concert No. 1 in D Major for Corno de Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, The Poem of Ecstasy, Op. 54 by Aleksandr Skriabin.

Cristian Tacuri Álvarez – French Horn. Ecuador, 1985. He began his musical career at age 14, being a guitarist, requintist and arranger. He studied French Horn at the José María Rodríguez Conservatory in Cuenca, under the tutelage of the teacher Fausto Paccha Puchaicela, which will allowed him to participate in different youth ensembles, orchestras and chamber groups.
He has worked as a soloist and guest musician in several symphony orchestras: National of Ecuador, Loja, Cuenca, University of Cuenca, Youth of the José María Rodríguez Conservatory, Cuen-K Ensemble, Guayaquil Philharmonic Orchestra, and others.

Among the most important works he has performed as a soloist with a symphony orchestra are the Concerto No. 1 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the Concerto No. 2 by Joseph Haydn and the Concerto for Four Horns by Robert Schumann.

He has received master classes with Andrey Astaiza, Juan Landy, Piero Guzmán, Tigran Melkumyan, Mushegh Melkumyan and Cristian Pazos.

His knowledge has allowed him to enter the branch of musical direction and he has stood out as an arranger for symphony orchestra and for different musical formats in the country.

He currently serves as the first Horn of the Symphony Orchestra of Cuenca.
