About: At age 42, Rafael Belvedere is having a crisis. He’s overwhelmed by his responsibilities and just isn’t having any fun. He has spent most of his life frantically trying to run the restaurant his father Nino founded. He has achieved success, but continues to live in the old man’s shadow. He rarely visits his aging mother, Nora. His ex-wife is bitter towards him because he doesn’t spend enough time with their daughter. And finally, Rafael is too self-involved to make a commitment to his girlfriend, Nati. Just when Rafael feels most alone, a series of unexpected events lead him to reevaluate his life. A minor heart attack forces him to slow down and a reunion with Juan Carlos, a childhood friend, helps Rafael to reconstruct his past and look at the present in new ways. Most importantly, when his father makes the decision to fulfill his mother’s dream of getting married in a church, it gives Rafael a task to focus on, bringing the family together to create a new memory they can share.

Getting to La Guarida is simple. Just jump on the tranvia and get off La Cuadra station. We continue to be the best rated restaurant according to TripAdvisor. Don’t miss out this incredible film with an equally amazing dinner.

Celebrate our 1st anniversary during the month of October…

What a trip…

When we moved to Cuenca to open a 5-star ceremonial restaurant, gourmet, we never thought a global pandemic would be a couple of months away. Now, a year and a half later, The Oasis is quickly approaching its 1st Anniversary, and what a journey it has been!

We started with an adventure dinner concept and this has evolved organically into a 3-4-hour food ceremony. Gathering a fusion of elegance, adventure, health, spirit, tradition and culinary creations. The Oasis is not a restaurant to go to just eat. The Oasis provides an experience that nourishes its entire being; body, mind, and spirit.

Vision Statement
St. Christopher Episcopal Mission

St. Christopher’s Episcopal Mission (SCEM), in a collaborative successful partnership with Mision Sagrada Familia, will be a welcoming gathering place, a spiritual center in Cuenca and the surrounding neighborhood of a theologically humble group of believers worshipping God, meeting Jesus and demonstrating the practical love of Jesus to members, visitors and the poor.

Through action, SCEM will demonstrate what it means to be a follower of Jesus with a commitment to serve those in need by doing good works quietly, without fanfare or notice while fulfilling the question “what would Jesus do”?

SCEM will be a growing force for good in the community, known for outreach ministry.

SCEM, with the help of a Priest will offer Christian educational activities for spiritual growth through liturgical worship, group discussions, learning, and education filled with the Spirit of God’s love for us in our loving hearts and minds.

Visitors will experience Christ centered individuals within an inclusive, multi-cultural, bi-lingual, and multi-generational worshipping community of believers, with close bonds between members, committed to social justice while helping others.

This week In La Guarida.

Come join us on the second week of September. La Guarida mixes cultural activities with amazing food and drinks. We thank all of our customers for keeping us as the Best Rated Restaurant in Cuenca in TripAdvisor. Don’t forget to come to our breakfast service: Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 12:30 PM. We serve the best omelets in town. You may also check out Eduardo Segovia’s exhibit. We have more than 60 works by this revered local artist.

Our film choices for this week are:

Tuesday, September 7th at 6:45 PM: The Passion of Joan of Arc
It is the year 1431. Young, French Joan of Arc is put on trial for alleged treason. Once glorified as her nation’s savior, she has become a mere pawn in a game of political intrigue. Her sacrifice is inevitable. Simply considered as one of the best film ever created. By master filmmaker Carl Theodor Dreyer and an exquisite performance by Maria Falconetti as Joan, this film is simply unmissable.
