Oxygen generator and equipment for EWOT for sale. Perfect for a day spa, sports medicine or a home gym.

Exercising with oxygen therapy is a scientifically proven phenomenon that’s said to restore our natural health to a youthful state. This is called EWOT (exercise with oxygen therapy; pronounced e-watt), and it’s benefiting the lives of so many people.

It’s true that anyone can benefit from restoring his or her circulatory function and blood flow, but exercise with oxygen therapy is meant to increase oxygen circulation at a rapid pace. And although there’s certainly a time and place for hyperbaric oxygen therapy, for the everyday person who is looking to oxygenate blood in their body — thereby reducing inflammation, increasing energy and maintaining health — exercising with oxygen therapy may be more effective and efficient.

SciFi discussion group meets Thursday

The next meeting of the Cuenca SciFi and Fantasy Discussion Group will be:

* Date: this coming Thursday, September 1st
* Time: noon
* Place: Golden Prague Pub

The book for this month is:

* The Galaxy, and the Ground Within, by Becky Chambers

This is the next book in the nominee list for the novel category of this year’s Hugo Awards, that we’re slowly working our way through. (The award winners will be presented on September 4th this year.). Becky Chambers has written a number of very well received science fiction books in the last few years. This is technically book 4 of the Wayfarers series — which won the Hugo Award for Best Series in 2019 — but each book is very standalone; they share a rough chronology, and some characters in one book may make appearances in others, but the books are self-contained and can be read independently.

For anyone who hasn’t been to the Golden Prague Pub, you can find it under that name in Google Maps. It’s directly across the street from the Supermaxi El Vergel, 2 blocks south of Parque de la Madre on Alfonso Cordero. The place opens at noon — if you get there early, I’m not sure what their policy is on letting you grab a chair, but the Supermaxi has a couple of benches outside on the upper level.

Anyone who finds themselves available and wants to show up is welcome. This is intended to be a general geek-interest reading/discussion group. Subjects could involve scifi/fantasy fiction and movies, anime, tech, gaming, a book-of-the-month reading, and so forth. Friendly arguments about how about whether Amazon’s Papergirls is faithful to the graphic novels, or whether Luis Guzmán is a good fit to play Gomez Adams in the upcoming Wednesday series, are entirely possible.

If you have any questions, feel free to post them below and I’ll keep an eye on this space to answer them.

See you all then!

Thursday, September 1st, noon, free, Golden Prague Pub, Calle Alfonso Cordero y Av. Jose Peralta, Cuenca.

Holy Pig it’s Gusher time at King Smokehouse!

If your face and hands don’t get messy eating BBQ… you’re doing it all wrong.” King Smokehouse guarantees you will need a lot of paper towels (alias napkins in the South) to mop your face and hands when you eat their succulent, tender, tasty, and oh, so juicy Pulled Pork. Double the amount of towels if you slather your King Smokehouse Pulled Pork with one of their savory, perfect Carolina Barbecue Sauces. Now that is some kind of good eating (South Carolinian for delicious).

At the Smokehouse your get all their great products and a lesson in South Carolina lingo (a must language for any pork lover). Then of course you will crave some Carolina Country Cornbread muffins with some diced jalapenos to ensure a “slap yo’ mama” (translated too good for words) experience.

“The wise man is the one who knows how little he knows.” ~ Lao Tzu, Tao te Ching.

During this workshop the basic concepts and philosophy of Taoism will be introduced. We will discuss and explore the nature of Taoism, its influence on society and its relevance for the Qigong and traditional Chinese medicine.
Tao is unknowable and indescribable, but we will do everything possible to present its history and practical applications.

This workshop is adequate for both people who have no history in Taoism and for those who have studied it and want a new perspective.

Together with the workshop you will receive a manual on the subject of Taoism and its propagations throughout history.

Cuenca’s Creative Open Mic with Ernest Whaley

Cuenca’s newest Open Mic with an old twist at the Jazz Society Cafe! Open Mics were originally a place where songwriters could show up and tryout their new songs. Over the years it somehow changed to an event where the majority of players were just playing songs that someone else had made famous. We’re staying with the original idea of songs written and played by the writer, and including songs by famous artists, if they have a unique spin to them, and not, “Just Like The Record”.

The class is almost full!

Like many organizations all over the world, our membership has been impacted in a negative way by the Covid pandemic, but it’s time to get some semblance of normalcy back into our lives. For several years now, I have been teaching bridge lessons for absolute beginners and folks who haven’t played in a while and feel they need a bit of review before rejoining the club.

Cruciferous produce has arrived at Nectar

In addition to the standard organic, washed and bagged ready-to-eat produce from Nuna Chackra Farm, that Nectar continues to provide every Tuesday and for the rest of the week, we are happy to announce that cruciferous produce like romanesque, broccoli, cauliflower, red and green cabbage is now available.

“Cultivated since as early as 4000-5000 BC, cruciferous veggies actually have an impressive history. Not only have they been a dietary staple for many different civilizations, they’ve also been used medicinally throughout the years.

Believe it or not, cabbage was considered a powerful remedy in 16th century Europe for a variety of ailments. Other related vegetables were used for everything from snake bites to heart pain.

This particular produce group is high in vitamins A, C, and K as well as minerals like magnesium, potassium, calcium, iron, and selenium. Many are also high in folate (vitamin B-9), vitamin B-6, and vitamin B-2.”

Every Tuesday, $.60 to $2.50, Sucre 1-127, Cuenca.
