Double D’s: There’s still time to order, but not much

This menu’s casserole is a home-style classic loaded with tuna and tender-crisp vegetables in a cream sauce highlighted with dill and tarragon. The soup has a tomato base with black beans, corn, spinach, chickpeas/garbanzos, and a little bit of onion. It’s seasoned with curry and a touch of red pepper flakes. It’s not super spicy, but it will leave a tingle on your palate. The sweet is a twist on a traditional because that’s how we do things. Remember, all of our food is fully cooked then chilled for you to reheat and enjoy right away or to freeze and save for a later date.

What goes best with our Country style sausage? Ohhh, not hard at all – Uncle Dave’s Pancake’s hands down! Golden brown with syrup and sausage. Perfect.
Hmm. What to have with my Smokehouse Ribs? Easy, Carolina Country Cornbread, no question.
I want Smokehouse pork chops tonight, what do you have? Sauerkraut! Hand cut and delicious, crispy with the right amount of tang.

Art historian, Berenice Cárdenas, will explore different churches, houses, monasteries, markets, and squares which contributed to UNESCO making Cuenca a World Heritage site. The idea of modernity and progress in Cuenca, and in Latin America in general, illustrates an interesting reinterpretation of the architecture of the European centers where these styles were originally created. Thanks from Gringo Grub

The response has been phenomenal and we are grateful to those who have purchased our food. The appetite for our products has been more than expected and due to confined freezer space, I cannot keep a full menu in stock. Over the next week or so I will determine what are 4 or 5 most popular items to keep in stock. I have not abandoned the products, instead I am going to make certain things each week of the month. Right now, the most popular items are the chili with beans, bean soup with bacon, potato soup with ham, sloppy Joe’s meat and our beef stew. I regret to slow down so early until I expand the facilities. The special next week will be chicken stew. The following week will be beef tips and gravy if I can find a consistent beef supply. Thanks for your support.

Double D’s menu for the week of September 12

Italian beef at its best – Osso Buco at Joes’ Secret Garden

Dine-in this Saturday… we are open. Reservations required.
Delivery or PickUp … Sunday, order in advance.

If you like Italian cuisine and you like beef this is the dinner for you.

Tender beef shanks are popular in many European cuisines, but it’s in Osso Buco, the northern Italian classic, that they can be at their most heavenly. And Joes’ Secret Garden brings them to Cuenca … braised in a sophisticated and subtle tomato and vegetable sauce, then finished with a bright gremolata (fresh parsley, lemon zest, and garlic), But few dishes are more seductive. Like most braises, they require slow, gentle cooking.

In this Saturday’s menu, this flavorful beef is paired with its classic Italian accompaniment, creamy polenta with a touch of cabernet sauce…The meal starts with a delicious salad of winter greens, sweet beets, oranges and avocado in our special apple vinaigrette, Dinner ends with an irresistible sweet-tart mango mouse…Ecuadorian coffee and Sri Lanka (Ceylon) Tea, of course.

A memorable dinner evening

Not in the mood for beef? We offer two excellent alternatives …
Our popular Herb-Garlic-Rosemary Roasted Chicken
Vegetarian Egg Plant Parmigiana … layers of lightly breaded eggplant with house made marinara sauce, parmesan and mozzarella cheeses.

For reservations, prices and more details visit our website; http://www.joessecretgarden.com.
