We are very sad that we had to close Sofy Local Cuisine for now… but good news are that we are doing our specials in Sofy Glocal in Casa del Parque. This time I’m inspired by some of the best Japanese restaurants I visited in NYC and I’m so happy I was able to find the products.

This special is going to be just awesome! We will have some sake and good wines to pair the dishes of this amazing cuisine.

Quadruple donations this week only and why

By now you know from our posts that FAAN completed a successful Kick-Start Matching Campaign.

Together, we doubled a $20,000 donation from a generous and anonymous donor for FAAN’s capital campaign for the land purchase and building of the first modern US-Standard Animal Shelter in South America.
Congratulations Cuenca!

On hearing the campaign results, our donor announced on Saturday that he would quadruple donations, this week only, so that collectively we can raise an additional $10,000.

FAAN’s capital campaign is urgent. Why? 1) Because FAAN dogs received their eviction notice and we need to find permanent land and move our over 140 dogs by December 31st and 2) Our current upper shelter is also at risk of a landslide, so the sooner we can relocate our animals to their permanent and secure sanctuary the better.

Discover the secrets to cultivate your own Bonsai

As human beings, we are all meant to learn certain things during our lifetime. Some of these things are part of our essence and shape who we are. In my case, my fascination with trees and their fruits started at a young age, while playing in my grandpa’s yard. I was so enthralled with the abundance of fruits in the trees that I wanted to have my own yard filled with them.

However, after a few years of growing my own trees, I found them to be too big and unmanageable. I wondered if there was a way to have the fruits and keep the trees in a small pot. After years of failures, I finally developed a formula to grow beautiful trees in pots.

What are free range eggs and what are their health benefits?

Free range eggs are those that are produced by hens that are raised without the use of chemicals, hormones, or antibiotics. Instead, these hens are raised in a natural environment and are fed a healthy and balanced diet that allows them to produce high-quality eggs.

By choosing organic eggs, you can enjoy several health benefits, including:

– Lower risk of disease: Free Range eggs are produced by hens that do not receive antibiotics or hormones, which means they are less likely to get sick. This, in turn, reduces the risk of the eggs being contaminated with harmful substances that can be detrimental to our health.
– Higher nutritional value: Organic eggs often have a higher nutritional value than conventional eggs. This is because organic hens are fed a more varied and healthy diet, which allows them to produce eggs with higher levels of essential nutrients such as vitamins A, D, E, and B12.

The Flow State – Refining the Flows in Qigong, part 1.

Definition of a flow state from positive psychology:

“A flow state, also known colloquially as being in the zone, is the mental state in which a person performing some activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity. In essence, flow is characterized by the complete absorption in what one does, and a resulting transformation in one’s sense of time.”

It is in the flows of the Qigong practice that the magic happens … To reach this state takes some practice, so that you no longer need to think about what you’re doing.
