DESCRIPTION:Experience Azuay's most authentic Pawkar Raymi (Andean Carnival) in the Kañari ancestral community of Zhiña \, Nabón Sunday\, February 15thDeparture: 8 AM from Café Ñucallacta\, Cuenca’s Historic CenterArrival in Zhiña: 10 AM We will gather with the community and follow a traditional\, pre-designated route with 12 ceremonial stops. At each stop\, the community will share offerings to replenish our energy along the way. The 12th stop is the main celebration site\, where we’ll enjoy Andean Carnival activities including music\, dance\, rituals\, and community festivities.We will remain at this final stop\, in the Pucallpa community\, until 6 PM\, then return to Cuenca. There will be plenty of food and drink throughout the day.Expect a long trek over easy to medium terrain.Bring an extra change of clothes and be ready to get wet (Rain poncho) —either from rain or joyful carnival play! Cost: $75 Maximum: 4 participantsIncludes:- Round-trip transportation from Cuenca- Community lunch- Donation to the community to support Carnival activities This is a unique and intimate experience with very few outside participants.
