Ensamble al Sur is back and we can’t wait! The last time they played at idiomART, we had to schedule a second performance because they sold out so quickly and the waitlist was that long! Now, they’re returning to the Patio Sessions stage and we couldn’t be happier.
Ensamble al Sur plays a lively mixture of Andean music with Ecuadorian musicians Jorge Koko Aguirre (Cuenca), Yarik Quizhpe (Saraguro), and Ali Medina (Loja). They play diverse instruments such as the charango, violin, guitar, and various Andean flutes (siku, zampoña, quena) and have played in different international festivals, winning numerous awards. They are musical ambassadors of Ecuador and have performed in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Most recently, Ali Medina and Jorge Aguirre won the best folklore band in Italy. This group truly is world-renowned!
