idiomART has been invited to participate in a citywide event on Sept. 30 (Saturday) called the Poetry Marathon. We will be one of 13 different groups who will participate in a 4-hour poetry marathon! This is a huge endeavor and we are seeking folks who would like to share their own poetry or read their favorite poems. We also need some volunteers because we will have various moving parts to this event.
Each group will be at a different bridge in the city and idiomART has been given Puente Roto (The Broken Bridge).
This is an incredible opportunity for us to share in a collective artistic expression as well as share the essence of who we are with the greater city in the hopes that more people will know who idiomART is and what we do.

Since we are a place that thrives on diversity and we are always looking for ways to expand our horizons, our goal is to do the same with this event. We will share how diverse the poetic expression is with poetry readings, recitations, dance, music, monologues, comedy, and more!
We will have a children’s corner and different idiomART in-house artists will be hosting specific events such as an urban sketchers hour, painting demonstration, and a drum circle. We will also have a book swap table where folks can leave a book and/or take a book, as well as various poetry books so folks can swing by and spontaneously get up on stage to read a poem.
The goal is to have 4 continuous hours of poetic expression without stopping and every single group participating in the event (including folks in France, Canada and the US) will be doing the same thing at the same time!
If you are interested in participating as a reader and/or volunteer, please let us know ASAP by emailing: idiomartcuenca@gmail.com
On Monday, Sept. 18 we are having a meeting at idiomART at 1 PM to discuss logistics for the event itself.
Please let us know if you’d like to participate or if you have any questions!
