Recently diagnosed cancer patient starting chemo therapy in Cuenca looking for a small cancer support group meeting regularly.
There is little to no information available here for support groups. I have found none in my search. These services exist, almost everywhere in the US. e.g information and referral services through doctors’ offices, call a RN services, hospital sponsored groups for patients, private practitioner’s offering facilitator led groups, etc.
Self-led support groups offer patients (pts) excellent emotional support for those who need it to ask questions and talk about their disease process, etc. Having others for pts to talk with relieves families of intense pressure as well.
Receiving a cancer diagnosis can be a traumatic experience. It can be especially difficult in another country other than your own or if you are a single living alone here.
