Did you see Oppenheimer?

My name is Jackie Sario and my mother’s side of the family are atomic bomb survivors from Hiroshima. I saw the movie, “Oppenheimer” through Cuenca Car Share movie program on Saturday the 26th, and was heavily affected by it. I was stunned by the images of the atomic bomb exploding because it so closely resembled the image my mother described, watching it all happen from across Hiroshima Bay.

There were and still are so many conflicting feelings and thoughts about this event, maybe because we don’t really know the Japanese point of view. So, I want to share my mother and her family’s stories with anybody who is interested in hearing the viewpoint and the experiences of innocent Japanese survivors.

If you want to come to listen and ask questions, I will be sharing her stories at Bistro Yaku, Wednesday, September 6th, at 2 PM. Hope to see you there.

September 6th, from 2 to 4 PM, Free,
