Important update regarding automatic debit process – Bluebox

I extend my warmest greetings to you all. I am reaching out to address a matter of significance concerning the automatic debit process at Bluebox, particularly in relation to our esteemed clients.

It has come to my attention that several insurance companies are encountering issues with the automatic bank debit process. This process, which is closely tied to a national bank for processing international credit card debits, is currently facing challenges. During a recent meeting with the Banking Superintendency, it was brought to my attention that these challenges are stemming from the implementation of the new data protection law.

Under this new law, financial entities are mandated to verify the identity of individuals who authorize automatic debits in Ecuador. Consequently, there is a possibility that the submitted authorizations may need to be resubmitted or directed to an alternate Ecuadorian bank account or card. Please rest assured that our team is diligently working to resolve these inconveniences, and we are confident that a solution will be reached in the near future.

Additionally, it is imperative to consider the impact on health insurance contracts in Ecuador. As per Ecuadorian legal regulations, a health insurance policy cannot be canceled until three consecutive months of non-payment have occurred and the customer has been formally notified in writing. In collaboration with insurance companies and the Superintendency, we are actively addressing these issues. I am confident that normalcy will soon be restored.

Should you have any inquiries or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me directly. Your understanding and patience during this period of adjustment are greatly appreciated. We remain committed to providing the best possible service to our valued clients.

Thank you for your ongoing trust in Bluebox.
