Tai Chi in Cuenca, new schedule

We continue our Chen-style Tai Chi classes in Parque de la Madre with a new schedule and two practice options.

1) Tai Chi/Qi Gong. Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 PM for one hour in the southeast corner of the park (under the tall trees nearest the Cuchi Suco restaurant). On Saturdays, we meet in the same location for one hour at 9 AM. Drop-in fee $3 or $35 per month.

2) Tai Chi/Wu Shu. For those seeking a more vigorous workout or more advanced routines, we start at 5 PM. Tuesdays and Thursdays for two hours in the southeast corner of the park. On Saturdays, we meet for two hours as well, beginning at 9 AM. Drop-in fee is $5 or $50 per month.

Classes are taught in Spanish by Master Patricio Zúñiga (a superb practitioner and teacher with whom we’ve practiced for over eight years). Wayne and Sandra Materi are available to translate where needed, though simply copying what you see will take you a long way. We welcome all levels from absolute beginner (option 1) to advanced (option 2).

Tai Chi is a great way to gently improve your fitness and health. It is excellent for developing lower body strength and flexibility and for improving your balance and general movement. Tai Chi is an ancient yet modern practice that incorporates conscious breathing techniques into deliberate, meditative movements which benefit both mind and body.
