After two-weeks off, Tai Chi in Parque de La Madre returns

Tai Chi is a great way to gently improve your fitness and health. It is excellent for developing lower body strength and flexibility and for improving your balance and general movement. Tai Chi is an ancient yet modern practice that incorporates conscious breathing techniques into deliberate, meditative movements which benefit both mind and body.

Our regular, ongoing Tai Chi practice incorporates warm-up exercises, Qi Gong routines, and the fundamental movements of the 18 Form. We welcome all ages and all levels from absolute novice to intermediate. You can join at any time and at any level; there is no class start date or end date.

We practice Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 – 10:45 AM in the northeast corner of Parque de la Madre under the shade of the large trees (closest to Av 12 de Abril and the Tomebamba River). If it is actively raining or the ground is too wet, we will meet under the rings of the planetarium. Practice is led by Wayne and Sandra Materi in English though we are always happy to accommodate our Spanish-speaking friends. Classes are free, but we welcome drop-in donations of $2.

For more information, please e-mail me at: wayne.materi@gmail.com or check out our new Tai Chi in Cuenca Facebook group.
