Su Terry-Samurai: Their Secret Life

Casa Aurora presents Su Terry and her one-woman show “Samurai: Their Secret Life.” The show features projected images with live narration and shakuhachi (Japanese flute) music.

Known as a woodwind virtuoso, as well as a 9-time USKSF gold medalist in taijiquan, Su Terry has combined her passions for both music and martial arts in this one-night-only event.

The legendary Samurai warriors of Japan never disappeared. They still exist in movies, books, and websites. The image of the Samurai is so powerful it’s even used to sell popular products! But what was so special about the Samurai? After all, many types of warriors have made an impact on history. In this one-hour presentation, Su will explain the secrets that not only made the Samurai fierce warriors, but also enabled them to transform themselves after the Shogun effectively eliminated them from society for political reasons.

The haunting sound of the shakuhachi has been described as “Nature whispering her secrets”, and even as an entry into Nirvana.

“Knowing Su as a creative and remarkably talented musician I was not sure what to expect from her new show. It was a revelation. The music of the Samurai was new to me, but I was immediately transported to another place and time and it took me on a journey inwards.” -Joel Gordon
