Long weekend – Do you have plans? Cuenca Car Share

Today is May 24 – The Commemoration of the Battle of Pichincha that won Ecuador’s independence from the Spanish rule. This year the holiday will be celebrated on May 26, making it a long weekend. The battle was very bloody, 101 years ago – back in 1822 – when it was fought on the slopes of the Pichincha volcano, 3,500 meters above sea-level, next to the city of Quito. Cuenca is only 2500 meters above sea level. Winning that battle meant freedom for Ecuador.

Since it is a long weekend and some businesses and banks will be closed, some of you may be wondering what to do. Why not rent a car and venture out into the countryside where you can enjoy fresh air, relaxing views, and have time to yourselves. Cuenca Car Share has vehicles available.
