The New Theater is proud to present “Love Letters” by A.R. Gurney as their very first show. “Love Letters” is a simply staged, two-character play with a man and a woman reading their letters written across the decades starting from when they were children. This frequently revived play is funny, engaging, and ultimately moving, and has been an audience favorite since its debut in 1988. Markku Sario takes on the role of Andrew Makepeace Ladd III, a reserved yet eloquent man who uses the art of letter-writing to express his thoughts and emotions. Charlean Born steps into the role of Melissa Gardner, a free-spirited and vivacious woman who leads a tumultuous life filled with passion and complexity. Under the skillful direction of Paula Bailey, this production of “Love Letters” promises to captivate audiences with its poignant exploration of love, friendship, and the power of written words.
