We’re halfway through May already and we have a number of fun activities at idiomART!
idiomART is a creative center in Cuenca dedicated to creating community through the arts and cultural exchanges. But we’re more than that…we’re a place to meet new people and connect with old friends. We are a place that inspires creativity and it just feels good to be there.
We hope you can join us in our activities or even just drop in to have a cup of coffee and say hello!
We are open Tuesday – Saturday from 11 – 5 PM
And now for our May line-up…

You will also enjoy a deliciously prepared meal with ingredients from the community members’ gardens and farms. You will have a number of chances to speak with and get to know the people of the community and learn from them about the age-old practice of the minga, get a tour of their community center, and talk about the work they have been doing to conserve and reforest their land.

Noel delights us with his energy, his vocals, and outstanding guitar playing. Yunior keeps us going with his spectacular percussion and always contagious smile and happiness!
For this month’s Patio Sessions Concert at idiomART, the band is going to debut virtually a new show with many exciting new songs! We can’t wait!

– Storytelling Warm-Up and Open Mic
Have you been interested in participating in the Storytelling Open Mic but aren’t quite sure if you’re ready? Do you love telling stories but tend to wander? Do you have ideas for stories but aren’t quite sure if they’re ready? Then this is the perfect space for you!
We are offering a free warm-up session one hour before the open mic where you can:
– Ask Questions
– Get Feedback
– Feel It Out
The Open Mic is run much like a musical open mic. Storytellers and listeners experience a fun evening together. Those who don’t want to tell a story can come and listen. Those who want to tell a story write their name on the list and we call them up in order. It’s as easy as that! Like we always say, storytelling doesn’t work without story listeners. It’s a very low-pressure atmosphere and the goal is to have fun and nurture the timeless art of storytelling.
May 31
– Warm-Up ~ 5 – 6 PM (free)
– Open Mic ~ 6 – 8 PM ($5)
*no reservations are needed for either one
(this event is held the last Wednesday of every month)
And just for fun…save the date!
June 8 we are celebrating our one-year anniversary in our new house with a fun party! Live music, dancing, open house, and various other activities. If you made it this far, then thank you so much for reading this long message! Lately, life is but a series of sound bites but sometimes it can be hard to fit it all in just a couple of lines…I did my best to be concise though! Hahaha!
Hope you all have a wonderful week and see you soon!
Blessings
