Written by rescuer:
His name is Kevin. He is 6 years old.
He has been neutered and all his vaccinations, deworming and parasites. He is a large dog, but very gentle, weighs about 50-60 lbs.
He has been trained with the basic command words: sit, stay, come, and down and no. When he wants to play, he turns around in circles and sometimes you may hear a little Woof. He is short haired, and loves being in the casa with you.
He does stay inside, but goes to the door when he needs to go out to potty. (He has never gone potty in our home). He really likes when you talk to him, give him pats and tell him he is a good Boy.
He was found in front of our gate. We live out in Ucabamba and Pacha/Nulti exit.
Kevin was so malnourished, he only weighed about 35 pounds. When my husband opened our gate, he was lying there and not moving. Our taxi driver said he is dead. He moved his one ear slightly, so my husband came back into the house and got some water and a small amount of dry kibble.
We called our Vet at Clinican, Dr Lesley. She came and got him. She told my Husband, that she may need to put him down. When she got back to the clinic he looked up at her, like he was saying, please help me. She started IVs and gave him nourishment with IVs at first. He was responding. Then she gave him soft canned food. He was sitting up, but couldn’t stand. After he got fluids and nourishment in the IVs he was responding very well. But she took x-rays to see if he had any breaks, she said he had none. But she did say he had severe pneumonia, so she gave him injectable meds. She indicated that he could not be an outside dog, placed in a shelter or even placed in a dog house, he would not do well and could get sick again.
He is wonderful and gentle. He curls up on our dog’s couch and just watches what is going on in the house and sometimes takes a nap. He doesn’t like when it rains. He looks out the door and looks at me, like I will hold it and he does.
We are moving out of the country on April 26th and would really like to find a wonderful family that would want a very special loving dog who would be in their family home and give him lots of love like we did. Unfortunately, we are unable to take him.
Kevin has a blanket, feeding bowl and water bowl. A bag of food and doggie treats. He has some new unstuffed toys. and we will buy him a bed to sleep in. He has his vaccine records from Clinican Pet Clinic and Dr Lesley knows Kevin.
He is set to go to a new Loving family.
