Spanish: stop translating in your head and start thinking in Spanish

Imagine this:

A Spanish speaker comes up to you and starts speaking to you in Spanish.

How do you see yourself? What do you do?

Are you fumbling for words?

Stuttering and pausing for long periods of time as you translate in your head and think about the different verb conjugations, etc.?

Because if you are, then pay close attention to what I’m about to share with you.

If you’re not, then this isn’t for you. You can stop reading now.

But if you are having trouble recalling the words you need in a conversation, then it’s time to make some changes because this is a problem.

You cannot achieve fluency if you’re translating everything in your head first.

This is why you’re fumbling and why you don’t feel confident speaking Spanish.

It’s not because you’re slow, or not good with languages… it’s not even because you’re too old to learn.

Translation can be helpful when you’re just starting out but then you must begin to train your brain to think in Spanish.

If you’re not thinking in Spanish, then you can’t have a fluid conversation.

It’s that simple.

So how do you teach your brain to think in Spanish?

There are a number of things you can do but the most important thing is learning through meaningful context and this is something my team and I at Spanish to Fluency can help you with.

After initially struggling to learn Spanish as an adult and finally becoming fluent, as well as helping several other expats communicate more effectively, I’ve taken all of what I’ve learned along the way and used it to create my Spanish to Fluency 12-Week Bootcamp Program.

I’ve also found it extremely effective to incorporate some key aspects of neuroscience into our program.

When you can understand more about how your brain works and what its natural learning processes are, you can create a brain-friendly learning environment that facilitates the process and accelerates results.

If you’d like to discuss things further to see if it’d be a good fit for you, you can visit our website at http://www.spanishtofluency.com and book a free consultation.
