Best local cellular services for cost and quality?

Hello, new aspiring expat here looking to get a local SIM card so that I have service while out and about. I’m relying on wifi currently and don’t want to pay Verizon’s astronomical travel plan.

What do you experienced, and veteran expats use – cell service wise – and what do you recommend? Also, is there a best place to go and get this?
