I thought that since many people on this forum use Charles Schwab, I would share my recent experience. Yesterday, after asking my Banco Del Austro manager why they’ve suddenly started to charge a $4 fee for ATM withdrawals and after being told that it is my card issuer (Charles Schwab) that is charging the fee, (and knowing that was wrong), I called Schwab.
Here is what a very nice man (Adam) told me: They reimburse up to $500 a month on service charges of all kinds. When we looked at my transaction history, we saw that my $300 withdrawal yesterday showed up as $304. He understood that $4 of that was an ATM fee and suggested that once or twice a month (maybe mid-month and end-of-month) I call them and show them the fees and they will reimburse the fees no questions asked.
At the end of our conversation, I asked Adam if I could pass along what he told me and he said “of course”. I hope this will be helpful to all of you (like me) who use the Schwab card to minimize credit/debit card transaction fees.
