In response to a post last week about the additional $4 fee added to Banco del Austro ATM withdrawals, on Tuesday 28/2, I used the ATM at the Supermaxi El Vergel. The screen asked me if I would authorize a $4 fee. I agreed, got my $300. Both the receipt and my bank statement showed that I withdrew $304. That is a new fee, in addition to the US bank fee of $1.50, and the $2.70 cross border fee (this is not our bank, so it must be Ecuador).
I contacted Banco del Austro and asked for an explanation and they have yet to respond. I may eventually take the time to go to the bank branch in Centro to ask. But if I get a reply from them, I will post.
