Day 1 – Waterfalls and trekking
We will take you from Cuenca to the Ecuadorian Amazon in our four-wheel drive SUV. After just 2 hours and 30 minutes, you will arrive at Limon Indanza, the gateway to the Amazon. This picturesque Amazonian town is hidden between mountains, rivers, waterfalls, and nature.
After a short hike, we will discover a series of waterfalls from 5 to 10 meters high, surrounded by vegetation, the sound of birds, a great diversity of insects, and the elegance of butterflies. An opportunity to swim and take an exhilarating shower will be at the waterfall. Next, you will have a local lunch and go back to Limon.
Outside Limon, you will stay in our exclusive “Quinta San Luis”, surrounded by nature and fantastic views. In the evening, you will visit a special place to taste organic food prepared in gourmet style.
Day 2 Birdwatching and Petroglyphs
Early risers at exclusive Quinta San Luis reap the rewards. The terrace is open and equipped with coffee and tea. Our guides are ready to assist you in identifying the many unique species out early in search of insects and fruit in nearby trees. Then, we will enjoy a delicious breakfast.
This morning, our first excursion takes us to explore the forest trails. Next, you will depart to attempt a sighting of the Amazon cock-of-the-rock, one of the ‘challenges’ available at Limon. After this, we may stop at the hummingbird garden to see these hyperactive, charismatic birds. There are many species of birds visiting daily. There is also the silent meditation hike, where the only rule is nobody is allowed to speak.
Finally, you will discover a great variety of mysterious petroglyphs. Most of these figures resemble humans, animals, and geometric forms. This visit will take us to an unknown world of primitive cultures that are more than 5,000 years old. Finally, we will end this experience by getting your first dip in a beautiful river.
You will enjoy lunch amidst the natural surroundings of this place before returning to Cuenca in the afternoon.
