On Wednesday, February 15th, we will be taking a trip to Gualaceo and Chordeleg. We meet at the foundation for breakfast at 8:30 AM and then take the short bus ride to the Makana Museum. At the Museum you will learn to weave and how dyes are made from natural ingredients such as insects and other materials. You will also learn about how they work with the community and teach those living in poverty how to weave and make things to sell. You will meet those from the community.
At the end, you will get to take home something you made yourself. Then we head to Don “Q” for a fabulous lunch. After lunch we will go for a walkabout in Chordeleg where you will explore this unique community of artisans specializing in gold and silver jewelry. On the way back we will stop at the Orchid Farm shop where you can purchase orchids.
Foundation Hogar de Esperanza offers once a month day trips where you get a unique opportunity to explore communities outside Cuenca with a different perspective. All proceeds go to support the work of the foundation.
