Waterfalls, rivers and culture in Limon; 2 days (departure Thursday, 26th)

Rise early for a day packed with wild adventure, departing from Plaza San Sebastian in Cuenca at 8:30 AM. Then it is time to get on the 4×4 heading to the east towards the Ecuadorian Amazon (2h30 min approx). You arrived at Limon Indanza, just two hours from Cuenca. Known as the gateway to the Amazon, a picturesque Amazonian town hidden between mountains, rivers, waterfalls, and lots of nature.

After passing through Limón, we head to Chiviaza, a rural town known as the enchanted valley due to its impressive ecosystem. In Chiviaza, you will visit an organic farm, take a hike in the jungle and discover a fantastic variety of mysterious recordings on large rocks called petroglyphs. After that, you will learn more about how people work with Amazonian products and taste some of their traditional drinks made with sugar cane.

Be ready for plenty of swimming, scrambling, and waterfall showers in Chiviaza Waterfall. There you will find a series of waterfalls from 5 to 10 meters high, which form a beautiful landscape surrounded by vegetation, the sound of birds, a great diversity of insects, and the elegance of butterflies where we can feel the soft and fresh breeze. Next, you will have a local lunch and then return to Limon. During the night, you will visit a special place where you will taste food from the Amazon prepared in gourmet style accompanied by a campfire. In Limon, you will stay in a beautiful and comfortable “Quinta” surrounded by nature and fantastic views

After breakfast, today’s adventures are packed full of trekking and river time in Catazho (arqueological and natural park) you will disconnect from the world to discover a great variety of mysterious recordings on large rocks called “petroglyphs”; that comes from the Greek “petra” which means “stone” and “glyphos”, “engraving”. Most of these figures look like humans, animals, and geometric forms. This visit will take us to an unknown world of primitive cultures of more than 5,000 years B.C.

You will end this trekking in Campo Alegre, a perfect place to pause and admire the striking tropical rainforest scenery and get your first dip in a wonderful river. You`ll be return to Cuenca after lunch.
