FAAN (Fundacion Familia Amor Animal) is working to build Ecuador’s most modern and sustainable animal shelter. While we have 140 dogs now in our care, each of our dogs and volunteers has a unique story. In this post, Meet Marvin and Jo.
Jo is FAAN’s awesome “matchmaker” on our Volunteer Advisory Board who helps dogs, cats and adopters find each other. Reach out to Jo at FAAN if you’re looking for a new best friend (or two).

These three flannel shirts are from the very popular “Legendary Whitetails” brand. Never worn. They were just delivered from the US on Monday of this week. I gambled on sizing and lost – they are way too small for me, and it’s not worth the hassle and cost to return them by courier (even though I really like them and will order the same shirts in the next size up shortly.)

Psyllium, similarly to other soluble fibers, passes through the small intestine without being completely broken down or absorbed.
Instead, it absorbs water and becomes a viscous compound that benefits constipation, diarrhea, blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol, and weight loss.

Rise early for a day packed with wild adventure, departing from Plaza San Sebastian in Cuenca at 8:30 AM. Then it is time to get on the 4×4 heading to the east towards the Ecuadorian Amazon (2h30 min approx). You arrived at Limon Indanza, just two hours from Cuenca. Known as the gateway to the Amazon, a picturesque Amazonian town hidden between mountains, rivers, waterfalls, and lots of nature.
After passing through Limón, we head to Chiviaza, a rural town known as the enchanted valley due to its impressive ecosystem. In Chiviaza, you will visit an organic farm, take a hike in the jungle and discover a fantastic variety of mysterious recordings on large rocks called petroglyphs. After that, you will learn more about how people work with Amazonian products and taste some of their traditional drinks made with sugar cane.
