Pickleball in Cuenca?

New to Cuenca pickleball. Where in Cuenca is it possible to play?

Terry D

Thank you for the donations for our playroom for Grace

Thank you for the generous cash donations and the toys and table. We only need $400 more in donations to purchase the equipment or a donation of any of the following items. Thank you!

GRACE (Give Refugees A Chance), recently recognized as one of the best NGO’s to help the most vulnerable people by UNESCO and other groups in Cuenca, is seeking donations to help them better work with the children of refugees and migrants. The staff in addition to other medical personnel now include a speech therapist and a counselor. In order to better be able to support the needs of these children, who have often experienced significant trauma, we want to set up a playroom. The room will be used to help children have a better outcome with both speech therapy, counseling and other care provided by GRACE. Children will also have a comfortable place to wait when other siblings or parents are receiving treatment from our health care providers.

We are in need of the following items in either new or good condition:

Looking for a large food processor

Does anyone here in Cuenca have a large food processor that they don’t use? The brand doesn’t really matter as long as it’s in good shape, but it does need to be a 12 cup or more. Before we get one from the States, we thought we would check here… you never know and we have been very lucky getting what we need from our friends right here.

Thanks so much!

Waterproofing raincoat

I have a raincoat that has started leaking. Does anyone know where I can get it waterproofed here. My landlord operates a laundry and they were not aware that waterproofing could be done. They checked with the dry cleaner that they use and they could not help. Please post your answer here.

Bailey is looking for her forever human

It’s so depressing for us and for the dog when they are here longer than they need to be. Why is Bailey still here? She’s an awesome dog. She is a professional fetch player, and understands the command “drop it”. If you give her a tennis ball, she will bring it everywhere with her. She would be great for an active individual who will take her on daily jogs or for a family with children and a fenced in yard. Bailey does great with other dogs but she is not meant for the farm life, as cats and chickens are toys in her eyes. She is 4-years old and is spayed. Cuenca.

To meet Bailey or any other adoptable dog please reach out to me.

We are always in need of dog food, cat food, and cat litter as they never seem to last long.

In a normal healthy adult, the stomach produces 12 liters of hydrogen per day to drive electrical and cellular function. Many people have stomach dysbiosis, this process is often impaired with a result in loss of energy and vibrance. Recommendation for Emilio Morocho, driver/facilitator/Emilio of All Trades

Greetings — we reserved our pickup from Guayaquil from Emilio Morocho (Cuenca Car Share) and he greeted us with a welcome sign, a smile, and a hug. A friendship was born. Emilio is one-of-a-kind, a true “Emilio of all trades.” He has been so helpful in our first couple of weeks here in Cuenca.

On our journey over the Cajas, he told us about the different types of vegetation we saw, he explained the cultural significance of many different sights on the drive, and he even stopped to show us and try many different varieties of fruits at a small stand on the side of the road before our journey over the pass. He made us feel immediately welcome in Ecuador.

What is glutathione IV infusion therapy?

Glutathione is a tripeptide—a combination of three amino acids: cysteine, glycine, and glutamine. It’s present in most of the cells in our bodies, though it’s most often found concentrated in the liver.

Glutathione contains a sticky sulphur chemical group that collects all the harmful molecules in your body and neutralizes them. These are called free radicals; when they’re eliminated, your immune system gets a massive boost.

Benefits of glutathione
• Prevents chronic illness
• Slows the aging process
• Boosts athletic ability
• Controls inflammation

Learn Spanish for free with movies, books, TV and music

Authentic Spanish resources (such as movies, TV, books and music) are one of the most fun and effective ways to improve your listening comprehension, vocabulary and grammar.

So why aren’t more people taking advantage of them?

1. There is a common misconception that you must have an intermediate level or higher in order to watch a movie or read a book in Spanish.

2. They don’t know where to begin – how to find a movie/TV show, book or even music that is suitable for their level and interests.

This is why I’ve created this free guide to using authentic Spanish resources to take your Spanish to the next level.

I debunk this myth and show you how you can start using these resources at a beginner level and still get amazing results (and have fun doing it!).

This guide provides you with an extensive list of recommended options for books, movies/TV and music, sorted by level, genre, dialect used, etc., to help you easily find something suitable for you.

This guide is valued at over $150 but I am currently offering it for free!

Download your free copy here: https://bit.ly/freespanishguide and start adding a solid dose of fun to your learning experience, that will teach you the real, every day Spanish used, that can’t be found in an app or textbook.

Art to feed the soul and the Hungry Fundraiser

We are excited to announce that our next art exhibition at idiomART is a fundraiser to help raise money for the Cuenca Soup Kitchen!

We will have artwork by Burt Johnson, Evelyn Johnson, Juan Garcia, Peter Dudar, Alberto Soriano, Maité Eusebio, Margot Manosalvas, Susan Armstrong, Cristian Leon and Pedro Pablo Tocabens. We will also have an incredible musical presentation by local opera singer, Christian Castro!

The Cuenca Soup Kitchen has been committed to providing food to those most in need for over five years.

CSK provides food for approximately 1,000 hungry people. Each family in our program is screened and followed by a social worker. As they reach stability they are transitioned out of the program, making room for others in need.

In addition to food CSK provides:

– Eco-friendly hygiene products for women and babies
– Donated clothing and household items
– Hats and other warm and soft clothing for babies, the elderly, cancer patients
– Birthday recognition for every child in our program

In addition to our partnerships that serve families within the city of Cuenca, the Cuenca Soup Kitchen reacts to urgent needs. Sometimes this need is created by natural disasters such as flooding and landslides. In these cases the CSK provides food and hygiene products as communities work towards stabilization.

The exhibition is until Feb. 2

The opening is Thursday, Jan. 19 from 6 – 8 PM at idiomART. Free entrance,
