Hello Everybody!

Does anyone know when you are required to start voting? I’m a permanent resident, but thought you could only vote when you’re a citizen?

Getting money to the US

Hi. I hope everyone is well. I have a question. I have been trying to send money to a relative in the States. That doesn’t sound like a difficult thing to do, but everything like PayPal, Venmo, Western Union, etc. has failed for some reason that I never understand. Furthermore, no one seems to care. I have been trying for two weeks and I would be very grateful for any help.

Bus from Quitumbe terminal to Quito airport

Good morning,

Anyone know what time the last bus leaves Quitumbe for the airport?

Or what Transit authority or bus company I could email to find out?

And do the buses leave Quitumbe hourly or more frequently?

Many thanks,

Jack

Medicare enrollment questions

I am soon approaching Medicare age. I have lived in Ecuador for several years and have no physical address in the US. I am hoping that my fellow expats can help me with the following questions:

Can I use my virtual mailbox (which has a street address) as my address? Or
Is there an advantage to using a friend’s address?

Do you have traditional Medicare or Medicare Advantage?
Why do you prefer one over the other?

Thank you very much.

Nice things to visit around the Quito airport . . .

Dear GringoPost Reader,

If you had a layover at the Quito airport, and had about 4-5 daylight hours to visit the surrounding area, what would you do? What would you visit? I prefer not to head over towards Quito – that would be too complicated. I also prefer not to hang around the Quito airport, or check into a nearby hotel or hostal. I could take a look at TripAdvisor or similar sites, but I prefer to hear your suggestions.

Free props for DJI Phantom 4 drone

Do you have a DJI Phantom 4 drone? If so, I have a couple of sets of props that I am no longer using. I sold my drone to a person on Easter Island, so I can’t get these to him. One of the sets has LEDs on the blades, for interesting night use.

Email me if you own such a drone, and would like to have these. Feel free to pass this along to someone you know owns such a drone too.

Moringa

Gramm Bulkshop wants to share some information about Moringa with you:

Moringa also called the “Miracle Tree” and “Tree of Life,” has been heralded as a superfood even more amazing than kale. Research confirms its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and cancer-preventive powers.

The leaves are edible fresh or used as a powder when dried and ground up. They are rich in vitamins, essential minerals, and antioxidative phytocompounds like polyphenols and carotenoids.

According to a Fast Company article, “In a gram-for-gram comparison with kale, moringa has more than twice the protein, six times the iron, and 97 times the vitamin B2.”

Recommendation for Zoe Craw, pedicure and manicure for men

The little market in ed. La Cuadra ll not only sells groceries, but Zoe, from Burma, also provides fabulous pedicures and manicures for men in a quiet back room. Although her business is aimed at men, she gave me, a woman and a resident of La Cuadra ll, the best pedicure I’ve ever had. She has had experience with diabetics, and is extremely gentle, careful, and thorough. The entire procedure took almost 2 hours, so don’t go if you don’t have time to relax!

The pedicure service is $15 and includes either a glass of wine, a beer, or a cup of coffee. It definitely was worth every penny!
