We are short $2,100 for Christmas. Can you help us out?
Dear Friends,
As the holidays rapidly approach, we continue to work to meet the needs of the women and children we serve.
Every year we learn new things about the culture of our adopted country. Did you know that children in Ecuador receive only one gift for Christmas? And only if their families are able. Such a striking difference from the materialism of the US at holiday time! Our goal this year is to honor that tradition and help the women in our program provide a wonderful Christmas.
Our school supplies drive was an overwhelming success, but we must return to you, our dear friends and supporters, to ensure the children in our program have a magical Christmas.
Our mothers tell us they also need shoes and underwear for their children, so we will add those to the packages with the children’s presents. That adds up to $30 for each child. Considering we have 200 children (including babies and toddlers) that is a whopping $6,000! We hope to raise $2,500 from calendar sales and Southern Comfort Chicken and Waffles.
Can you dig deep and help make Christmas a special day for these children of abused women? It is our tradition to give the children’s Christmas presents to their mothers, so they feel empowered by having a gift to give their children.
If you have pennies collecting in a jar, be sure and bring them to us with your donation. This is a tradition at Mujeres con Éxito.
Please take donations and pennies to Mujeres con Éxito at Balthazar de Calderon 226 y Miguel Velez, Monday thru Friday from 9 AM – noon. If you have more than you can carry, we can also arrange for pick up.
