We are short $3450 for Christmas. Can you help us out?
Dear Friends,
As the holidays rapidly approach, we continue to work to meet the needs of the women and children we serve.
Every year we learn new things about the culture of our adopted country. Did you know that children in Ecuador receive only one gift for Christmas? And only if their families are able. Such a striking difference from the materialism of the US at holiday time! Our goal this year is to honor that tradition and help the women in our program provide a wonderful Christmas.
Our school supplies drive was an overwhelming success, but we must return to you, our dear friends and supporters, to ensure the children in our program have a magical Christmas.
Before you spam me with your comments, allow me to explain.
Street photography for a man is not easy. A single woman walking the streets with a camera is likely to generate some very positive reactions from the people she meets. If she wants to photograph other women or children, they are usually happy to oblige. If she wants to photography a man, they don’t view her as a threat and usually allow it. However, any man that has traveled extensively with a camera in his hand knows all too well that street photography as a lone male often creates some uncomfortable situations. At best, people will avoid you. At worst, you snap a photo of a woman and that results in a confrontation with an angry husband or brother.
Forget taking a picture of anyone under the age of about 15 which in many countries could result in the involvement of the local constabulary. Add a woman to the mix and suddenly all is well. Even in cultures not really comfortable with photography (e.g. Morocco) a woman shooting with a man creates a whole different dynamic. Thus, I have learned that shooting with another photographer who happens to be female can prevent altercations and create opportunities that would not otherwise exist.

Collagen can help to support the strength and flexibility of the tendons and ligaments and aid recovery after exertion alongside vitamin C; the benefits of collagen might be even further heightened.
Collagen is a protein that plays a significant role in building the body’s structures. When it comes to muscles, ligaments and tendons, collagen provides elasticity, which allows the tissues to stretch.

Rise early for a day packed with adventure, departing from Plaza San Sebastian in Cuenca at 8 AM. Then it is time to get on the 4×4 heading to the east towards the Ecuadorian Amazon (2h30min approx).
You arrived at Limon Indanza, just two hours from Cuenca. Known as the gateway to the Amazon, a picturesque Amazonian town hidden between mountains, rivers, waterfalls, and lots of nature.
After passing through Limon you head to Chiviaza, a rural town known as the enchanted valley due to its impressive ecosystem.
Massage therapy and skin spa treatment
I have been going to Alejandra for massage and facial treatments for several years, and find her without a doubt one of the most skilled and professional therapists I’ve ever used. Mostly for massage, but she has a lot of facial skin rejuvenation treatments available. I don’t know if she is the best therapist in Cuenca, because I’ve only used her since moving here. She has a 90-minute relaxation massage, but for a deeper experience, her deep tissue massage is available.
I just saw her yesterday for a 90-minute session, but a while back I was having some neck issues, I contacted her and discussed targeted therapy, and she suggested one 30-minute neck and shoulder session each week for 4 weeks, and that solved the problem quite well without seeing a doctor or PT (which she suggested if her massage didn’t solve the problem). She also has a salt scrub for your back and legs that feels amazing as needed. 90 minutes / $45, located in a delightful restful Zen spa room at the back of Mercy’s Peluqueria on Paucarbamba.
