I failed the new citizenship test (Nov, 2022)

I just took and failed the new Citizenship test (Evaluacion de Historia-Geografia-Cultura Actual 2022). It’s so hard that it’s unreasonable. No one could possibly pass, and likely no one will pass until they realize what they’ve done and change it to make it reasonable — or until all of the questions leak out as happened with the previous test. That way one can simply study the question bank. (No one in my group of four passed, no surprise).

Injured or killed in a traffic accident? Govt program offers assistance

The Ecuadorian government has a program that offers economic assistance to anyone injured or killed in a traffic accident on a public road involving a motor vehicle, whether driver, passenger or pedestrian. Even bicyclists who are hit by motor vehicles upon a public road within Ecuador are covered by this program. Determination of fault in the cause of the accident is not required, and there is no limit placed on the number of compensable victims in a single traffic accident.

Funding for the program is through fees included in vehicle registration (matriculación).

Help Jean McCord with medical expenses in Cuenca, Ecuador

Jean McCord, a well-known writer in Cuenca, Ecuador, needs help with medical expenses to cover a failed hip replacement surgery. Her left hip has dislocated three times after recent surgery, causing severe pain. She is at the IESS hospital in Cuenca but IESS does not have the necessary resources to do the surgery. The three private hospitals in Cuenca that could do the surgery have all refused to accept a transfer of Jean due to IESS’s ongoing financial problems and failure to pay its external medical providers. The cost of Jean’s surgery is estimated to be $30,000 to $40,000 which is also contributing to the private hospitals’ reluctance to accept a transfer. Jean has exhausted her funds.

Thanksgiving passed, but I still want to thank you all!

Hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving!

One year ago, I made a survey about tourism in Cuenca that in a way helped me to start shaping my project, and later I made a video for Thanksgiving 2021 in which I thanked to the community living here.

I couldn’t post my message of Thanksgiving for 2022 on time for GringoPost, but I still want to thank you, and share with you a new video posted from the YouTube channel of my Tour Operator, which is part of this project built because of what I have learned from all of the people living in Cuenca, mainly people who came from abroad to make Cuenca their home.

Train your brain to think in Spanish

Are you thinking in Spanish or are you stopping to translate everything through English first?

If you’re not sure, just look at the Spanish interactions that you’re having.

Are they slow, choppy and exhausting? If they are, then you’re still translating in your head.

Or, do your conversations flow naturally and seem effortless at times? If you answered yes to this question, then chances are you are thinking in Spanish!

Collagen + Vitamin C: IV for your joint pain and arthritis

Joint pain and arthritis are conditions that a significant majority of the population will face in their lifetime. The pain is usually attributed to inflammation and poor joint health due to malnutrition.

Collagen can help to support the strength and flexibility of the tendons and ligaments and aid recovery after exertion alongside vitamin C; the benefits of collagen might be even further heightened.

Collagen is a protein that plays a significant role in building the body’s structures. When it comes to muscles, ligaments and tendons, collagen provides elasticity, which allows the tissues to stretch.

A search for “Passport Renewal” in GringoPost yielded a rave review for Visa Angels.
