Mary Wingo (Proyectominga) is organizing this fundraiser.

Get your one-of-a-kind beautiful hand-crafted beaded indigenous jewelry and pottery for your generous contribution for helping Paco Unkar complete his last semester of studies at the San Francisco University of Quito.

Paco is from the Achuar Nation in Taisha, about 12 hours by bus in the Amazon basin from Quito and Cuenca.

This remote indigenous region of Shuar and Achuar Pueblos has been hit very hard economically during the last two and a half years of the Covid crisis.

Many people have lost their livelihoods, and the region has few resources to sustain its infrastructure.

However, Paco’s family crafts first-class hand-beaded ancestral jewelry and pottery that is finished with plant-based lacquer and tint to all generous donors.

Pascual “Paco” Yunkar’s biography
(Translated from Spanish)

My name is Yunkar Senkuan Pascual Tinch, and I am a young Achuar from the Ecuadorian Amazon. I was born in the Amazonian jungle and come from a humble family. I am 26-years-old and I finished my primary studies in my community,

I am currently studying at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito, majoring in Hotel Business Administration, and this year is my last year to finish my degree.

I need help from you, my dear friends.

My economic resources are running out, and I don’t have money to pay for my university studies necessary to finish my degree. I also need to buy my groceries, pay rent for my apartment, buy books, pay for tuition, and, most importantly, carry out research to complete my classes.

My ambition is to finish my university studies and then return to my community to work with my Pueblo Achuar, to work with Ecotourism in the communities so that I can conserve the environment.

I am a young defender of Mother Earth, and because we depend on Her, I want to continue defending Her.

My family lives in the Province of Morona Santiago, Canton TAISHA; my father’s name is Taish Yunkar, and my mother is Wawar Senkuan. My parents want me to finish my studies to be able to work in the community; they are very hopeful that I will continue studying.

Each donor will receive my family’s handcrafted crafts gifts, which is why dear friends, I need your collaboration. I want to finish my degree to be able to help my people and serve society.

Please help me continue my studies and finish my degree.
