It is time to get an umbrella. I think the best umbrella is a shorty collapsible that holds up over time. In the States, there was a brand called Totes and it was well made but not real expensive. I’m thinking that some of you who have lived here for a while may have found a sturdy and durable shorty umbrella that doesn’t cost a lot. I know that it is often true that you get what you pay for, but sometimes it is better to ask around and see what people are happy with because all too often you don’t get what you pay for.
I’m new in Cuenca. I don’t speak much Spanish yet. I am staying on the north side of El Centro. I usually walk everywhere so if you happen to know of a place, I’ll certainly take a look. On the other hand, if you think it is worth taking a taxi somewhere to get an umbrella, let me know.
One more thing, I’m thinking of using a couple of Velcro straps looped around my belt to hold the umbrella. I don’t want to carry the umbrella by hand and I don’t like an umbrella that knocks you every step you take. Have you seen Velcro straps anywhere?
Thanks so much!
