Short term stay in Cuenca as a young adult female

Hi, My name is Marina and I am from the States. I’ve had this idea of traveling to Cuenca for a short stay for some time now and I feel as if now is a good time.

I was wondering if anyone here who has previous experience with short-term stays abroad could guide me in the right direction of where to look for living accommodations?

Ideally, I would like to find a furnished apartment to rent.

I mention the “young adult female” part because I feel as if safety has to be high on the list of priorities when looking for a place to stay. I have been to Cuenca a few times, but never on my own for an extended period of time (usually 1 week max w friends) so I am a bit nervous overall.

I have some friends in the Gualaceo and Chrodeleg areas so maybe some recs that are a bit closer to those areas as well would be great.

Honestly, overall advice about being an American living abroad would be so helpful as well.

Thank you, in advanced, for your time.

Looking forward to being a part of this community moving forward.

Marina
