Updating an electronic visa with the renewed passport number?

Has anybody with the new electronic version of the visa (you have a PDF of it) done this after renewing your passport and receiving a new number? This is not moving the sticker version of the permanent visa from the old to the renewed book. It’s updating the visa with the new passport number. Can you just show up to the Azogues office with both the old and new passport or is it a process that requires a facilitator?

Credit card interest rates

Card surcharges prohibited – The Defensoría del Pueblo announced that there is no law that authorizes surcharges on payments with credit or debit cards. Complaints should be addressed to the financial institution issuing the card, at the Superintendencia de Bancos, or some kind of judge.

It is prohibited for businesses to charge different prices for payments in cash and payments by card. The commission of 4% for credit cards and 2% for debit cards needs to be paid by the business and not the customer.

Homeschooling

My friend’s children are expats, a boy and girl, ages 10 and 15. Because they are foreigners, they’ve been experiencing bullying. They’ve tried several different schools, but the same thing happens.

I’m looking at homeschooling as a possible option.

Are there any expats in Cuenca who are homeschooling their kids with comparable ages? It would be great if they could join a small group and share expenses.

Gracias. Thanks in advance.

High rates of return + safety/security

Because many GringoPost readers may not be familiar with Cooperco, I’d like to introduce this exceptional co-operative to you. Established in Cuenca in 1965, Cooperco has, until now, been focused almost exclusively on servicing the Cuencano community. That exclusive emphasis has begun to shift. In addition to continuing to serve the Cuencano community Cooperco, in 2020, expanded its capability to now include a strong initiative serving Cuenca’s international community. Starting from a decidedly strong base, Cooperco has only grown stronger. It is the cooperative that offers CDs with not only high rates of return but unparalleled safety and security of principal. That’s a combination that is hard to beat.

Cooperco has numerous offices throughout the city of Cuenca. We have English speaking account personnel that can easily explain our numerous CD options and, more importantly, how Cooperco provides a clear investment advantage. Check us out. Learn how Cooperco can help to make the difference for you. There is a reason that countless individuals as well as many financial institutions invest with us. We may not be the biggest but we are definitely the best. Call or email me for more information.

Cheers.

If you are filing for a temporary/permanent visa, I offer a 100% money back guarantee. That’s right. If I don’t get you your visa, you pay nothing. My name is Isabel Mosquera. Have you moved to Ecuador without the required documents? Don’t worry, I can help. I offer free consultations, either by telephone, email or in person. I am at the Immigration office on a very regular basis, so I am knowledgeable about all recent changes in the law and am happy to share my knowledge with you. I will be happy to provide you with references.

I look forward to serving you.

Recommendation for Alex Mejia, tech guru

It’s time for another big shoutout recommendation for my one and only tech guru, Alex Mejia. I decided it was time to get a new, bigger and better Smartphone. Alex did some research to see what was on “offerta” and might be the best choice for me and my budget before he went with me to the Claro store at Mall del Rio. This was my first visit to the Mall since the outbreak of Covid and I was both excited and a little apprehensive to get back out there into the world, so I was especially happy to have Alex as my escort. Not only did he do all the paperwork for me at the Claro store/office, he also accompanied me on my frenzied first in two years shopping spree for some new clothes, like a true and patient gentleman. Since that took several hours and Alex had another appointment that afternoon, he came to my house the following day to do the data transfer from my old to my new phone, which took a couple of hours. And – while he was at it – he also did some routine maintenance on my laptop.

Alex Mejia is not only the most knowledgeable tech guru I’ve had the pleasure to know in my 12 years of living in Cuenca, he’s also a kind and extremely patient human being. He responds promptly to emails or WhatsApp texts and shows up punctually on the dot. His English is impeccable, and his fees are affordable even for someone like me on a small fixed income.

Recommendation for Ms. Jerri Ridley, massage therapy

I am a seasoned massage therapist and very picky about who works with me. Finally, I found Jerri Ridley through a happy client of hers. She has an innate ability to know when to lighten her touch or when to deepen her touch. I call this listening hands. For me, this is a must. I am so pleased with her work, that I committed to seeing her every week. I have never been disappointed and highly recommend her for someone seeking the best in sensitive and competent work.

Recommendation for Aubree Jeanne, personal trainer, health coach

After working with Aubree for several months, she has earned my highest recommendation as a personal trainer. Although she may be best known as the owner of RumiSol Yoga, I was delighted to discover that she also works individually with clients in their homes, which is perfect for people who don’t enjoy going to a gym.

Aubree has complete knowledge and understanding of how the body functions, and she tailors her sessions to the needs and preferences of each individual client, incorporating yoga, strength training, isometrics, and other exercise disciplines. She is able to find solutions for working around injuries and helping to recover strength and function.

Aubree also offers individual coaching on overall health and nutrition, and she is an excellent resource for people with health challenges who want to make lifestyle changes. She has an intuitive nature and is a calming presence in my home. I recommend Aubree without reservation for fitness training and as an all-around coach for health and well-being.
