Annual Collection of Medication

Hello Friends:

As you may know, I collect the medication and medical supplies that you don’t use anymore, to give to the different local nursing homes in town. They are in a lot of need lately. Every little bit would help.

We also collect gauze, alcohol, bandages, or any other medical supplies that you have, like crutches, walkers, canes. Please help our efforts by donating on March 30th, from 10 AM – noon at Kolo Restaurant and Bakery, located at:

Altos del Hotel Vieja Mansión,
Luis Cordero 5-65 e/ Juan Jaramillo y,
Honorato Vásquez,

Indivisible Ecuador – Facilitating Overseas Votes 2022 U.S. Elections

The federal law called the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (known as UOCAVA) governs the way all states must provide for military members and US citizens living abroad to participate in the voting process. These rules usually differ in some ways from those that apply to voters within the U.S. If you are looking at your state’s election website, be sure to go to the section specifically for military and overseas citizens.
The Federal Postcard Application (FPCA) serves for all overseas voters.

How to reimburse medical expenses by Carlos Ramirez – Blue Box

Reimbursing medical insurance in Ecuador involves different processes than the ones probably used in your country of origin. Because of this, our goal in this article is to give you information about how to access your reimbursements without complications. In a previous article we shared with you that the responsibility of the claim process, according to the law, is that of the health plan member. This process is similar with all insurers, one only has to submit required documentation to the insurance broker or to the company directly, in the case that you do not have an insurance advisor.

Cooperco Credit Union “Multi Million Dollar Club”

Because many GringoPost readers may not be familiar with Cooperco, I’d like to introduce this exceptional co-operative to you. Established in Cuenca in 1965, Cooperco has, until now, been focused almost exclusively on servicing the Cuencano community. That exclusive emphasis has begun to shift. In addition to continuing to serve the Cuencano community Cooperco, in 2020, expanded its capability to now include a strong initiative serving Cuenca’s international community. Starting from a decidedly strong base, Cooperco has only grown stronger. It is the cooperative that offers CDs with not only high rates of return but unparalleled safety and security of principal. That’s a combination that is hard to beat.

Cooperco has numerous offices throughout the city of Cuenca. We have English speaking account personnel that can easily explain our numerous CD options and, more importantly, how Cooperco provides a clear investment advantage. Check us out. Learn how Cooperco can help to make the difference for you. There is a reason that countless individuals as well as many financial institutions invest with us. We may not be the biggest but we are definitely the best. Call or email me for more information.

Recommendation for Landscaping by Leonardo Loja

I have a farm outside of Cuenca with a new building that has a bare earth bank behind it and to one side.

I was concerned about the bank deteriorating during the rainy season here and thought it would be a good idea to have some nice plants put into the bank to help protect it from the rains.

I have known Leonardo for a number of years, from when he worked at Coral as a supervisor. He left Coral a few years ago to follow his dream of having his own landscaping business, which he learned in the US when he lived there.

Recommendation for Lourdes Veles, house cleaner

A lot of people are looking for work cleaning houses, I know. But Lourdes is truly a consummate professional. She has worked for me for more than three years. In that time, she has never missed a day or even showed up late. She was recommended to me by a Cuencana, as being hard working, scrupulously honest and utterly reliable. All of which was true. In addition she is cheerful, funny, and just a lovely person. And she will charge a fair price.

She has little to no English, but she is on WhatsApp and with the help of Google Translate, we have gotten on fine with no problems. Once you show her what to do and where the cleaning supplies are, she is an independent worker.

If you need a house cleaner, please consider this very deserving lady. WhatsApp her at +593 98 819 5272

After my husband’s surgery I knew I could not provide the follow up care he needed. Poulin arrived on time each day (Dr. had said needed to do the procedure on time) She was smart, caring and gentle and helped us through to recovery. Afterwards we hired her to do his terrible fungus infected toenails. We could not find a pediatrist for them here, and she was a wonderful find for that care too.

We like them both very much and found their follow up information helpful too. Highly recommend them.

Movies and Dinner at La Guarida

La Guarida is proud to continue presenting the best and most diverse selection of films in Cuenca. This week we bring you two very different masterpieces.

March 29th (Tuesday, 6:45 PM). – Canción Sin Nombre –
‘Song Without a Name,” is one of the best Peruvian films of all time. Georgina Condori is a heavily pregnant Andean peasant woman living in a bare wooden shack in a coastal shanty town close to the capital, Lima. Lured into the city by a radio advert promising free “medical assistance”, she gives birth to her baby at a downtown clinic. The staff take her newborn daughter away, apparently for routine checks, but never return her. A Latin American landmark.

March 30th (Wednesday, 6:45 PM). – CODA –
As promised, we are projecting the Best Film of the Year by the Academy Awards. Simply a terrific heart-warming film free of controversies and plagued with incredible performances especially by Troy Kotsur (the first deaf actor to receive an Academy Award). Don’t miss the best film of the year.
