Singapore article misinformation:
A recent article included information about “Thousands of Expats Leaving Singapore”. However, I received this clarification from a friend in Singapore who read the article:
“I saw that same article here in Singapore and I was a little surprised at the “thousands leaving” remark. It’s complete nonsense of course, as we both know, expats come and expats go, but not in their “thousands”. Despite the Covid-19 related restrictions that are still in place it is still possible to have a relatively normal life here. But not so in Hong Kong where much tighter restrictions have been in place for some time and the effects are really being felt in the expat community. In another article I read recently, it stated that, “…Relocation firms (in Hong Kong) have seen a marked rise in moves from Hong Kong to Singapore, with others heading to Britain, Australia and Canada.” The same article also highlighted the negative effect this exodus will have on Hong Kong’s position as a major financial and commercial center in Asia.”
