A Christmas for everyone

Christmas is a time to share with the ones we love the most, but many families do not have the possibility to celebrate Christmas like others, due to various limitations. Hearts of Gold together with Cuenca Soup Kitchen organized a Christmas party for these vulnerable families on December 22nd and 23rd. We wanted to make sure that they feel the Christmas spirit transmitted by our volunteers, even though we were short on time, due to covid 19 protocols.

We managed to organize different stations for the Christmas celebration. In the first station the children received a Christmas gift that they had previously put on their gift list. The second station consisted of a Christmas tree where the families decided if they wanted to take pictures with the tree. The third station the children could take a picture if they wanted with a photographer who will deliver the pictures this Friday. The fourth station each family member received a chicken sandwich and a potato salad made with all the love by our volunteers. Finally, the last station was where we give them a food kit containing extras such as two chickens and milk. I had the honor to interview some families after receiving all the gifts and they couldn’t be happier. They were happy for the help they receive and that we push them to progress.

On behalf of Hearts of Gold we want to thank Cuenca Soup Kitchen for being our partners. And to you for helping us every day to help thousands of hearts of gold.
